Dr. Terry did his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Western Ontario (now Western University), entering the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (then the Ontario College!) in 1990. He graduated in 1994 and was licensed to practice that year. He was awarded the Dr. R. B. Farquharson Award for Excellence in Homeopathic Medicine. Terry went on to complete a fellowship in homeopathy through the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy, a three-year post-graduate course with Dr. Andre Saine, ND (completed 1998). Terry has pursued additional graduate-level courses and certifications in homeopathy, including with Dr. Jeremy Sherr's Dynamis School and others.
Dr. Terry is both a Registered Herbalist and a Naturopathic Doctor. He also has a practice in Barry's Bay, Ontario. Terry is a board-licensed ND with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. His is a general family practice with an emphasis on supporting cancer patients through their healing journey. After 7 years of practice as a naturopathic doctor in Sarnia and London, Ontario, Terry moved in 2001 with his family to the beautiful upper Ottawa Valley to join St. Francis Herb Farm as their director of research and development.
Dr. Terry has been an invited speaker at various venues, including the American Herbalists Guild Annual Symposium, the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors OANDCon annual conferences, the BRB CE Group Continuing Education Conference for Ontario Naturopathic Doctors, among others.
He contributes to several publications, is on the review board, and is a referee for the Canadian Journal of Naturopathic Medicine. In collaboration with the University of British Columbia's Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, Terry coauthored "Prevention of Prostate Tumor Development by Stimulation of Antitumor Immunity Using a Standardized Herbal Extract (Deep Immune®) in TRAMP Mice" and presented the findings as a poster presentation at the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians conference in 2019 in San Diego.
Terry and his wife Laurie have seven children (not a typo). Dr. Terry likes to tell people that healing is a family tradition; his grandfather was the village healer in his homeland of Holland.
